Adler & Edmark are Chris & Ali: an artist duo that combines the manipulation of digital media with the materiality of real things in real spaces. They create large-scale installations populated by modular sets of images, videos and objects. These works are suffused with a subtle humor trained on sensing tensions beneath the surface of things, and are edited to suggest a human presence through absence. Their approaches to these surfaces, lifted from advertising tropes like β€˜stock imagery,’ provide for a paradoxical play between a redacted context and a heightened specificity. They are fascinated by the repetition inherent in commercial imagery and cinema, and as a result often work in series. Their collaborative products come in a variety of physical denominations such as prints, projections, plastics and many other materials that refuse to begin with the letter 'p'.

Chris & Ali live and work in Los Angeles. They have been collaborating since 2011.
